Only after having undertaken graduate studies in philosophy at the University of Paris, studies that led to the doctorate, Francis Bayer decided to devote himself to musical composition.
Among his major works have included in the first place Opportunities for solo cello (1991), the prelude to the night for orchestra (1992-96), and the series of proposals, a series of eight documents designed to different numbers each time, the composition of which ranged from 1972 to 1989 which illustrate, each in their own way, what might be called a "poetics of the stamp.
