Among Johann Sebastian Bach’s more than 200 cantatas, two have gained particular fame: the cantatas “I have enough” and “I shall gladly carry the cross” are both written for a bass voice and orchestra, and are regarded as showpieces for virtuoso bass and baritone singers. Gotthold Schwarz has long been a member of that small group of leading Bach singers. He now recorded the two solo cantatas (plus the cantata “Peace be with you”) together with La Stagione Frankfurt.
